Things to do in the Boca Raton area to spark this year’s celebrations

Throughout the city of Boca Raton, you can find people showing their spirit by decking the halls, decorating the trees and indulging in cheer. While many come to escape cold weather flocking to Palm Beach County as snowbirds, you can see they continue spreading the joyful traditions with entertainment and celebration. For those of you who may be new to the area as homeowners, we have a list of activities and tips to do to get your holiday jubilant and merry.

Living on the Waterfront Bestows Extraordinary Traditions

While many residents who are inland will be celebrating in a variety of ways, people living at waterfront properties have annual traditions that you won’t want to miss. Even the country club residents, love to take in one of the many “Festival of Lights” parades along the famous Intracoastal. Because most dwellers enjoy the coastal waterways, a holiday boat parade is an excellent way to kick off the season.

Boating Parades Help Kick Off the Holiday Festivities in Palm Beach County

With the first of the Palm Beach County boat parades starting tomorrow, Dec 2nd, the others follow shortly afterward. The early ritual will show a display of boating participants with brightly colored lights, Christmas and Hanukah themes and more. You can see this festival in Jupiter around 8 pm. Don’t forget to pack appropriate clothing and watch for weather cancellations. Other than the elements, you will applaud the incredible light show that reflects the water. Just the thing to put you in the mood for some merry-making indeed!

Participants in Decoration Contests Help Support Charitable Causes

If you’re a yacht or boat owner, you may want to enter the drawing for the other boat parades as these events are also helpful for local philanthropists and raising money for charitable causes such as Toys for Tots. They also offer cash prizes to the ‘best of show’ making the season even more exciting. The dates for the boat parades are as follows:

The Intracoastal is an Excellent Place for Holiday Cheer

December 8th Boynton Harbor Marina kicks off their party at 6 pm and will be donating to Toys for Tots. Bring your donation to be entered their drawing.

December 16th Red Reef Park starting at the C-15 canal offers a spectacular line-up of vessels and is the last of the boating parades. However, you can still get your holiday spirit up to snuff, by going to one of the tree lightings or land parties.

Don’t Forget the Land Parties!

Land parties start December 6th for Boca Raton and include the Federal Highway celebration which will meet at Mizner Park Boulevard. You can check the city for more information on this event. Also, the city of Delray Beach is showing an early Atlantic Avenue parade, for December 9th. No matter which you plan on attending, you’ll be rolling out the red carpet for the warm South Florida winter in style.

Visit the Malls for Unique Gift-Giving Ideas

Next, if parades aren’t your interest, then don’t forget there’s plenty of places for world-class shopping of all type. From Town Center to Mizner Park, you can find many of the shops and galleries include rare and unique gifts. Take, for instance. You can see the latest Tesla model at the Glades Road location which consists of the most updated cars on the market. Picture giving one of these stealthy cars as a gift and you can’t help but become inspired.

Other than sports cars, both locations include fine jewelry stores, to original artwork from top artists. Perhaps someone you know is ready to add to their collection?

Don’t Forget to Check with Your Concierge or Homeowner Association for Holiday Updates

Regardless of the many unique gift items, you’ll find in town, don’t forget to protect your identity when buying things both on and offline. While we aren’t trying to make a public announcement, it’s good to have a reminder the holidays are a happier without any mishaps. Be sure to let your concierge know if you’ll be expecting packages and what is the best policy for those deliveries. Although there’s typically high security in luxury condos and country club settings, it never hurts to take extra precaution.

Take Extra Precaution to Protect Your Home and Identity this Season

Keeping in mind, you’ll be taking additional security measures, don’t allow these tedious tasks to get in your way of having a good time. Many of our local homeowners invest in security cameras such as home devices making your life easier to manage while away. Who knows, this might even make an excellent gift for someone living in Boca Raton? Nonetheless, it's important to stay focused on making the 2017 holiday season a hit.

Support Local Business by Eating at Your Favorite Café or Restaurant

Speaking of making the holiday season a hit, don’t forget to support your local businesses and keep the festivities going at one of our local cafes or fine-dining restaurants. You can spread more cheer this time of year by following the waitstaff hopping to meet your every need. You can be confident they’ll be happy to serve your favorite champagne or meal to bring in the fun. Don’t forget to check for reservations in the 5-star venues for exclusive treatment.

Don’t Forget to Call Ahead or Look Up Business Hours

Now that we’ve talked about the boat parades, shopping and sipping champagne, we think it’s important to take advantage of the tropical breezes and ocean shore. While many of the parks and recreational centers will be open, it’s good to visit their websites to see who is closing for dates like December 25th. While many places will be catering to both residents and tourists, some may be on hiatus for employees to celebrate with their families. A quick phone call or a visit to their website is all you’ll need.
