One of the most universal pastimes is that of sports. From the beginning of time, people in every country has indulged in some type of sport, whether as a hobby or professionally. From soccer to baseball and all sports in between can be found right in the town of Boca Raton, Florida. In this weeks blog we uncover why Boca Raton is one area where sports celebrities and hobbyists may call the “City for All Seasons” their home and why you can find sports are abundant.

Undoubtedly, Boca Raton is one of the most sought after areas for people of every lifestyle. But, this is particularly true for people with careers in sports and entertainment. The town is rich with culture and diversity; you’ll find a sport to suit your fancy no matter what your preference. From golf to soccer, our town hosts several events for professionals and amateurs as well as spectators. Little League to college, if you’re a sports enthusiast of any kind, you can find what you’re looking for right in your own neighborhood.
People such as Tennis Pro, Chris Evert, Football Star, Alfred Morris and Baseball’s Pete Rose have all called the seaside town their home. While many of the celebs that do call Boca their home, this tends to be more of a second home city for them.
Many of these so-called Bocans who are well known in the sports world, have sold homes after living here for a short and long periods of time. People like former ESPN announcer and NFL Pro-baller, Chris Carter sold his home after living in the area for several years.

Among these past residents you’ll find PGA’s Bernhard Langer and Greg Norman on the list. Why do so many celebs make this area a place to vacation and call home? Perhaps it’s because of the many lush golf courses you can find in the area that make living here so attractive.

You’ll find some of the best golfing available in Boca Raton. In fact, several of the tournaments are held in places like the Boca Raton Resort and Spa. The Waldorf Astoria venue backs up to one of Boca’s most luxurious condominium complexes which overlook the back green called Townsend Place. Many of our country club communities offer PGA approved golf courses with their memberships. Boca’s an extraordinary zone for golf and tennis whether you’re a pro or weekend player.

Tennis is another sport found here that many people revel in. Boca Raton offers several tennis clubs nearby. Places like the Boca Raton Tennis Center and the Boca Raton Tennis Club at Boca Pointe offer both Adult and Child lessons taught by some of the best instructors in the state. So, if tennis is your passion, this is an area to seriously consider investing in, if you haven’t already.
Not far from Boca, you can catch events such as the ATP World Tour/ATP Champions Tour which is being held this year at the Delray Beach Tennis Center. The world-known center hosts several events throughout the year and is only minutes away from Boca.

If watching a pigskin ball versus a wool covered rubber one is more of your speed, then check out a football game at Florida Atlantic University. These games offer high energy from both defense and offense with players that have gone on to become well known in America’s favorite sport. The Boca Raton campus players and coaches have received many awards. Rusty Smith, Jaquez Johnson and Coach Howard Schnellenberger were all honored during the Sun Belt Conference in 2007 and 2013. FAU hosts many other sporting events for college. They are a school offering soccer, baseball, women’s basketball and softball for the many athletes attending the school.

*Some other bragging rights for the Boca Raton area would be that of Sports Management. According to SportsBusiness International. (Sports Business International is a London Based professional magazine with a focus on sports management.) In the magazine we found FAU’s College of Business sport management MBA program ranked 6th internationally and 5th in North America. FAU Alumni have gone on to pursue careers with the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Heat and New York Yankees to name a few. That being said, means Boca not only breeds good athletes, in addition, the school offers a great management team to top it off!
Another reason for sports enthusiasts to visit or live other than college athletics, would be in little league. There’s a multitude of organizations for junior sports such as the Peter Blum Family YMCA and West Boca Youth Sports. These are excellent places for your children to take part in swimming and other exercise. Many people looking to buy single family homes are also seeking places for their child athletes to grow and expand. From child to adult, you can find any game every formed just west of the Atlantic Ocean.

Other than sports on the field, arena or court, Boca Raton has some of the best game for hunters and fisherman alike. If you’re into sport fishing, the list of boat charters is about a mile long in our town. South Florida hosts big-game fishing and is known to have some of the world’s most incredible catch. From sailfish to mahi-mahi you’ll find the charter captains will be happy to bring you to their most successful spots. Let them know you’re a resident and not a tourist for special attention.
