Boca Raton Beach

The beach, the weather, the adventure and the alluring scenery are a few reasons that Boca Raton wins the heart of its residents.  We Floridians take our beach seriously and it’s no secret why.  Spend a day wrapped in the salty sea air of the Atlantic Ocean with your toes buried in white, powdery sand and it won’t take long to realize you’re in a tropical oasis. Although it’s considered a sunny paradise, it’s surprising there are less visitors including celebrities in this quiet Utopia. Regardless, there are plenty influential people living in the area since it's a hub for a life well-lived. The beach is by far an ocean gem for any lifestyle and here are a few reasons why the area is sure to win your heart like it has the hearts of so many others.

Much like the visitors of Florida, the beach life is just as important to the residents. Many of the coastal home owners enjoy the incredible scenery and wildlife found next to our waters.  Boca Raton is one beach that is often overlooked. If you prefer a more private setting and avoid crowds, Boca’s Beach is ideal as an outdoor playground or a place to relax.

The beach has a total of five miles in length and reaches from Deerfield to Delray.  Delray Beach is a finalist for a Coastal Living contest where it's competing for the title “America’s Happiest Seaside Town”.  Right up the road, you’ll find some of Boca’s waterfront properties. History has it that some of these homes have also been featured in the national publication.

The history of the beach and the city of Boca Raton was formed in 1925 as the founders were beginning to build a world-class resort community completed in 1926.  The history behind Boca Raton is fascinating because of its settlers, like Architect Addison Mizner. Mr. Mizner’s goal for Boca Raton was to create "the world's most architecturally beautiful playground". Mizner’s incredible influence made Boca Raton, Florida an overnight sensation for property.  The beach was a focus for him to create a luxury resort. Once called the Ritz-Carlton now titled Boca Raton Resort & Club welcomes a high society crowd today as a Waldorf Astoria Resort which has beachfront access in walking distance.

The Resort offers a host of activities falling in theme with Mizner’s vision to create a beautiful playground. Some of those activities include surfing, golf and of course a chance to take in other watersports as well.

Today the Boca Beach Club, Waterstone Resort & Marina and The Sanctuary are neighbors sharing the quiet space of the beach area. This area is not always dominated by tourists.  Many of the area’s residents are regulars at both the beach and the marinas when it comes to taking in the sea and air.

Although some celebrities that call Boca Raton ‘home’, like vocalist Ariana Grande and Tennis Professional Chris Evert are among the few known celebrities that live in the area. Surprisingly, there's a low percentage of oceanfront properties owned by these jet setters that we know of in this area.  However, it is noted that Actor Kevin James and Tycoon Robert Pereira own mansions on the beaches nearby.

Pereira is said to have undergone a remodel on the almost 12,000-square-foot beach mansion.  The remodel of the 2.6-acre lot and its home is said to have cost somewhere in $30-million-dollar range.  This property was under a land trust where Pereira was awarded as the beneficiary. The news from the few people having the opportunity to visit the home have said the views of the water are spectacular.

News these homes can be found in several local news publications such as bizjournals.com, Boca Raton Tribune and the Coastal Star. However, there's no better way than to get the news first hand by spending time on the sparkling shores.

The beach itself is clean, with plenty of wildlife for neighbors. Up the road from the Boca Raton Beach is environmental center Gumbo Limbo. This is home to many sea creatures that have been rescued from various types of danger and are in need of healing. Gumbo Limbo is a research and knowledge center located near the Spanish River Park.  Our beaches and waterways have many advocates who support our marine life and the center. The local attraction is also a non-profit organization raising awareness for marine life.   This venue draws in approximately 100,000 visitors each year.

Marine life is one of the greatest thrills when swimming off the shores of Boca’s Beaches.  This time of year Blacktip sharks are migrating and heading for warmer water causing them to come close to the shores. This is just one of nature’s way of entertaining beach goers, swimmers, and marine biologists. Blacktip sharks are responsible annually for 16% of the shark attacks around Florida.  In the event that you should purchase beachfront property in this area, it’s wise to understand nature and respect it, then you won't have any problems.Black Tip Shark in Boca Raton

People that invest in property near large bodies of water also understand the weather and what owning beachfront property should entail.  Hurricanes and water funnels are a natural part of living in these areas so it’s good to invest in Impact Windows.  The material used to make these types of windows protect your home from flying debris, but are also necessary to protect your home from harmful UV rays.  This is one investment that can save you an enormous amount of money in the event there’s increment weather.

Forbes magazine featured Boca Raton and the Sanctuary as one of the ten most expensive gated communities.  This community has a 23 slip marina and is an immediate access to the Intracoastal. There’s also 2 miles of isolated beaches, making this a prime location for those seeking to live in a luxury home near the water.

If you’re a dog lover, then you’ll want to be sure to find the locations for taking your furry family member to the beach.  Dogs are not allowed on all beaches at all times. Spanish River Park, located at 3001 N. Ocean Blvd and between Lifeguard Towers 18 and 20 is appropriately known as Bark Beach.  If you’ll be taking your dog remember there are fees for non-residents and city residents as well.  If you’ll be visiting the area and would like to spend your day with the pup, then it’s $10 per dog for a weekend pass.  Remember that there is a limit of 2 dogs per owner and you’ll need a permit for each dog. There are strict guidelines and Bark Beach is available the following days and times:

Days: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays:

Time: 7:00 am-9:00 am

3:00 pm - Sunset, November to March (EST)
