Celebrating Post-Covid Quarantine

Since it is safe to guess some South Florida residents are celebrating post-covid quarantine and the re-opening of businesses, it is time to fill up your calendar for the season. As we always do, here is a list of events for Boca Raton and the Surrounding Areas for May 2020, you will want to bookmark for easy access. Here we go!

May 1st–
By this time next week, we should see a significant change in things reopening. Beaches, golf courses, tennis courts, etc., will hopefully all make their grand entrance back into our lives in stride for normalcy. However, we should mark this day as the beginning of our freedom as residents in one of the best towns in the country. Boca Raton is a mecca for activity, and we are certain the town and neighbors will be about sharing with the community once again. In the meantime, here are the rest of the events planned for the month.

May 1st–
Delray Beach will provide some delightful music honoring the late Judy Garland. Natalie Douglas will perform her famous songs, which will inspire all. Douglas is an award-winning vocalist, and musician who has traveled around the globe entertaining the masses. Should be a wonderfully fulfilling evening at best.

May 2nd–
Boca Raton Green Market is set to re-open in the city of Boca Raton. If you haven’t had the chance to visit this farmer’s market, it’s a must. Farmer’s from all over the state bring local harvest and organic goods. But they also provide some interesting arts and crafts among some world signature cuisine. You can stroll around the avenue browsing at the artisan’s goods while enjoying a dish from the Middle East or some other international outlet. The market is a good place for those looking to continue social distancing but want to take it slow. We think you’ll like what you’ll find at this awesome community service.

May 3rd–
Now is your chance to show your appreciation to some of our first responders in the community. The Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ‘Hero Brunch’ with our police force and raising money for the Boca Raton Police Foundation. If you’re looking to sponsor one of these heroes, the fees start at $1,000. Should be an excellent way to spend the day and the party is located at Morton’s Steakhouse at Town Center.

May 5th–
Cinco De Mayo is a huge party in many of our local bars and restaurants. Be sure to join the crowd for some exclusive fish tacos and margaritas at places such as Dublin’s and Patio Tapas and Beer. They most likely will host an indoor/outdoor party for you to take safety precautions. If anything, you can make some tacos and buy some tequila and chill on the balcony of your condo. Either way, we’re certain you’ll enjoy.

May 9th–
Boca Raton and Palm Beach County are a hub for 5K marathons and the Eat Better Live Better Mother’s Day 5K will be in full swing. As far as we know, there’s still time to register if you and your children would like to take part. This is a family event and race where they’re raising funds for Childhood Obesity. Sponsors and vendors will strive to help celebrate South Florida families everywhere who want to choose healthier lifestyles. Get your sign up early so you don’t miss the event.

May 9th–
The Palm Beach Veg Fest is a non-profit organization where you can enjoy eating fresh and focusing on your inner chakra with some meditation led to yoga. You might enjoy hanging out with the locals and getting to know your neighbors, but there’s also a way to connect with your healthier self. Should be a good time and hold tons of promise for your health-conscious self.

May 10th–
Don’t forget dear ole’ mom on this Sunday. Hopefully, there will be restaurants reopening by this time. However, if they aren’t you can plan a picnic at Mizner Park or one of many outdoor recreation centers to mind the social distancing rules. Be creative and shop early at one of the local retailers to help support small businesses and their renaissance.

May 13th–
We are excited to announce the 2020 Young Entrepreneurs Academy hosting an Investor Panel Competition by virtual means. It should be fun to watch these young and talented people competing with things like pitch and negotiations. We must remember; these are the folks who will lead our future, so let us give them a lot of support.

May 30th–
The Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County is hosting a conference where participants such as educators can get ideas on how to provide excellence in learning environments. If you or someone you know is an educator, this is one important date to keep as there’s so much talk about schools continuing to use online education as a vehicle for students to learn. Network, and support our teachers for a better tomorrow.

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the activities found in Palm Beach County. Delray Beach, West Palm and Boynton Beach all share some fantastic ways to celebrate being a Floridian. Pairings, which is a food and wine event, is one where your taste buds will get a workout and will surely please all who attend. This event will kick off with live entertainment, an art show, and you’ll have the chance to indulge in some county’s most delectable cuisine.

Remember, some dates for these events may not be accurate as businesses slowly re-open. Be sure to contact the venue or admins to ensure they will proceed; in case they have cancelations for the program. Until then, we hope you enjoy your community and all it offers.
