Boca Raton is notorious for many things such as Mizner Park, the Boca Raton Resort & Club and a whole lot more. One of the warmest communities in South Florida, the residents in throughout the city are worthy of praise as giving back to those in need. This week’s article has a focus on some philanthropy news where you too can get involved in one of the nation’s greatest coastal cities.

Saturday, November 9th

Tomorrow night Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club will hold a Memorial Dinner and Silent Auction at the clubhouse. This prestigious event is supporting the Naked Warrior Project supports fallen members of the armed services and their families. This unique non-profit group assists those in need with memorial services, education for children of the soldiers and a chance for those with similar life events connect. Excellent time for you to meet your neighbors and some of the warriors who protect our freedom.

Saturday, November 9th

Stars of Honor Gala at the Boca Raton Marriot will put on the Ritz honoring Dr. Ira J Gelb. Gelb will soon be 91-years old and still dedicates his time buy supporting FAU and in this case, Connected Warriors. This non-profit group has a focus on yoga as a way of dealing with traumatic events. They empower family and service members by modalities where discovery happens daily. Sunday, November 10th -

Millions of Americans are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s each year. This year the CBS12 News Team will partner in a Walk to End Alzheimer’s starting at Mizner Park Amphitheater. There will be health screening amongst other activities needing your participation. Also, volunteers will be providing food, exercise and live performances from locals who have dealt with this terminal disease. Come by with the kids and educate yourselves on how to stay in good health!

November 10th

Sister Cities of Delray Beach and PuttnAround will swing some clubs for the good. The Boca Voice mentions they are looking to keep the Japanese Student Ambassador programs alive and kicking. You’ll get a chance to play some putt-putt golf and eat some snacks while practicing your short game. Delray Beach is yet another strong community outside of Boca Raton who places meaning on bringing people together.

November 11th

Take your time out to honor all veterans who served. The City of Boca Raton and the Recreation Services will celebrate with a early morning breakfast followed by music from the local high school bands and end with the Veteran’s Day Concert at Mizner Park. It’s important to remember this day as one where countless American soldier have sacrificed for the great country where we live. Don’t miss your chance to pay tribute.

November 13th

Another event raising funds for research is the Pancreatic Cancer Fundraiser brought to you by Memorial Cancer Institute of Hollywood, Florida. This is a more low-key chance to collect monies with an ice cream social held at Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream. Enjoy some unique and innovative desserts made with few calories as the Nitrogen process is delicious and fresh. Besides the tasty goodies, you’ll be assisting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network continue to do what’s best for patients and families.

Friday, November 15th

Bring the Spirit of Giving to the Jingle All the Way Holiday Tree Lighting which will be held at the courtyard in Boca Center. This is your opportunity to donate a new unwrapped toy that will be given to a child in need during the holidays. Although we lack in snow, we thrive in fun with holiday carolers, food by local eateries and a chance for the little ones to sit with Santa. For all you wine drinkers, you’ll be able to pre-game the event at Sip & Shop with their pre-party event where you’ll receive a gift with your purchase of $100 or more. Fun, festive and a great way to spend your time and money, don’t miss this event to get you into the holiday spirit.

Saturday, November 16th

Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Gumbofest Fundraiser where you can bring the whole family. Proceeds will go toward raising funds to assist Friends of Gumbo Limbo with needed money toward renovations, care of marine life and biology research. This is a unique event where you can enjoy tasty from local restaurants who donate for a good cause. We are fortunate to have such a healthy recreational space and need to keep investing money to help worthy organizations by getting involved.

November 17th

Parkland Golf and Country Club invites you to a Celebrity Golf & Gala. The Montel Williams Military Makeover provides a charitable event where you can spend the time on the fairway or during a cocktail party with red carpet treatment. They’ll also include a silent auction and live music with a cash bar. Sounds like tons of fun and it’s a chance for you to get closer to the West Side of Boca Raton!

November 22- 24th -

You’ll find Boca Ratonian, Chris Evert is hosting the 30th annual Pro-Celebrity Gala. This event will be held at none other than the Boca Raton Resort & Club featuring live music, an elegant spread of fine dining and hors d oeuvres all while combatting children who suffer from drug abuse and child neglect. An impressive amount of money has been raised more than $25 million dollars with Evert’s pro-active community awareness and fundraising. Way to go Chrissy!

November 30th

The Orange Theory Half Marathon will take place which will support the Boca Raton Police Athletic League. This organization provides youth programs for residents by giving them higher self-esteem, learning to develop character and combat physical or mental illness. Such a great cause needs our friends and family to keep the mission alive. Be sure to donate or sign up for their annual events too.
