This weekend: 11th Annual Event Concours d’Elegance at Boca Raton Resort and Club

Where else can you see supreme vintage cars and motorcycles other than the Concours d’Elegance?
Now hosting its 11th year this event gathers car enthusiasts, motorcycle collectors, and philanthropists to raise money and awareness for the Girls and Boys Clubs of Broward County. The line-up of winners for these amazing cars and bikes is exclusive to the Palm Beach County area as there’s no other show quite like it, in the world. This blog highlights a few of the fund-raisers itinerary along with a little peek of what to expect.
If you’ve ever been to a car show, you know the selection can range with a variety of vehicles. If you’re seeking practical, you won’t find it here at the Concours d’Elegance which is hosted by the Dupont Registry and the Finest Automobiles Auctions. This is a unique and affluent affair with celebrities from South Florida to many other parts of the world who have gathered here for a few reasons.

The primary reason the crowds will gather is to support one of the best-known charities worldwide. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. The non-profit organization is held in high regard as this charity has been around since 1860. Besides being almost as old as some of the cars, the organization in Broward County will utilize the money raised to support their mission which helps youth find alternative actions to crime, gang violence and a multitude of negative influences. In fact, many of today’s corruptions involving juveniles have a direct impact on taxpayer’s monies for incarceration, counseling, and reform. In fact, the Boys & Girls Clubs focus on positive change teaching kids to become leaders, have healthy life skills and have an extension to their everyday studies with outside school programs. Indeed, this is a well-deserved life-enhancing the program that provides underprivileged children to find hope and opportunity in their neighborhood.

In addition to the raising, the necessary funds for the event’s leading cause, the “Big Wheel” category is yet another way for the donors to be involved. Many of the local businesses understand the value in supporting our future with our youth. The Big Wheels are comprised of several donations of $10,000 or more for college tuitions. Individuals involved in this category are supporting the future of some well-deserved children to better their futures.

While the cause is worthy, let’s get back to the cars and motorcycles that will be showcased at this weekend’s event.

First, let’s point out that the cars entered are in excellent condition, and there are very strict rules for entrants to follow. Cars that were introduced in the last three years cannot participate in this year’s competition. Another aspect to the judging is these cars and motorcycles must have been manufactured in 1975 or earlier. We can be sure the only Bentley’s will be those driven by attendee’s and not those entered in the show. The registrants were given a deadline of December 2nd, 2016 and are now featured in this world-class auto extravaganza.

Although many of the cars have their elegant appeal, you can expect to see everything from roadsters to town cars as part of the lineup. The classifications have different categories including American Classic to Foreign Sports, Pre-and Post War entries are also displayed on the green of one of Boca Raton’s most favored clubs.

The Boca Raton Resort and Club is a historical Waldorf Astoria landmark located on the sandy shoreline of the Atlantic. This venue is also the home of one of the area’s most favored golf courses where you can expect the vehicles will be on display. Because the prestigious affair introduces some of the world’s most valuable cars and bikes, you can look forward to seeing many celebrities there including Jay Leno and Comedian, Jeff Foxworthy who is the largest selling comedian of all time.

Besides the talent, you can enjoy duPont Registry’s Live Hangar Party which is hosted this evening at the Boca Raton Airport. There will be an excellent spread of gourmet tastings paired with some of the finest wines along with the opportunity to witness exotic cars, jets, collectible motorcycles and more. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. and will continue till 9:00 with some of the town’s most elite crowds.

The day of the show you can join those in attendance for the gala dinner and the silent auction. Of course, as the highlight of the show, it’s their people of the area receive awards such as the Annual Automotive Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes achievements performed by individuals in the automotive industry who have done outstanding work and were nominated as significant people in the community.

Sunday, the show closes with its grand finale, the Concours D’Gourmet featuring over 30 of the area’s finest restaurants and elixirs including drinks from Bar Louie and Oceans 234. In addition to the many tasty treats, you can be sure to guess many of our local auto dealers will be displaying some of their latest models. Auto dealers such as Aston Martin, Maserati of Fort Lauderdale and Bentley of Palm Beach will be amongst the vendors showing their prized models.

You can expect a glorious weekend as the weather is predicted to be a pleasant 76 degrees making this ideal for gawking at these different cars. While you can expect perfect temperatures and a splendid time at the event, keep in mind the residents of Boca Raton are some of the most generous when it comes to philanthropy. Of course, the Concours d’Elegance remains one of the prestigious fundraisers hosted in our community, but we feel safe to brag this event is one that continues to raise eyebrows among our affluent population.
