Luxurious homes, luxurious movie theaters

Three years after opening, iPic Boca Raton still sees growth

Tired of people behind you at the movie theater kicking your seat? Suffering from back pain because of uncomfortable movie seats?  iPic Theater in Mizner Park, Boca Raton, solves each of these issues and provides the services regular movie-goers could only dream of. At iPic, it’s reality. And it’s putting Mizner Park back on the map as one of the number one spots in America for luxurious living.

Sit back and relax in a “premium-plus” leather recliner, five star food,  and perhaps iPic goers’ favorite: have  someone take your cocktail and hors d’oeuvres orders before the opening  credits roll. Hamid Hashemi, the cinema mogul  who brought us Muvico Palace 20, now Cinemark Palace 20, in Boca Raton, says sometimes, for movie  theaters, as with many luxuries in  life, less is more. “The concept is we’re building lesser theaters but very, very comfortable theaters,” he told The Coastal Star.

Rather than building a 24-screen megaplex with 300 seats in each theater, Hashemi said he is achieving the “less is more” style by incorporating 40 to 60 seats and thus a more intimate setting. “It’s like being right at home watching a movie in a comfy bed,” first-time iPic visitor and long-time Boca Raton-area resident Marisa Vinas said, “except better. There’s no getting up to find the

remote or pausing the movie to get a snack. Everything is done for you.”

Even further, at a time when movie attendance is still struggling to recover from a 16 year low in 2011, iPic Entertainment, the creator of the experience, has enjoyed its status as the fastest-growing affordable luxury movie-watching experience in the nation. For instance, right as they’re walking in to the theater, iPic visitors receive a pillow and blanket for their comfort. And it doesn’t stop there. Hashemi’s Scottsdale IPic Theater  won “Best Specialty Project 2011” and the highest award, “Project of the Year for 2011” at the Top Hospitality Awards. Since its opening in Boca Raton in 2012, sales have only grown and iPic is now available in 12 cities across seven states.

“Places like iPic improve the real estate environment in luxury markets like South Florida because people here are willing to spend more for quality,” said Jean-Luc Andriot, of Jean-Luc Andriot Boca Premier Property Group. That’s what you get when you buy a home in this area. Not only will your home be beautiful, but the atmosphere is just as sophisticated.”
