May 2 – May 14

The Boca Chamber of Commerce is celebrating several businesses to the area and witness the robust economy where they’ll help contribute. Congratulations from Boca Raton Premier Properties to the Fusion Academy, Salon Copage, Faulk Center for Counseling and IBM Southeast Employee’s Credit Union. Wishing you excellence in success!

May 7

Our favorite local academic institution, Florida Atlantic University is holding tours to the Boca Raton campus where your college student can be transferred or register for the year. You’ll want to wear proper attire as this is a walkable tour and items such as comfy shoes and sunscreen are necessary. Show the “Owl Campus” your support and drop by to meet the school’s ambassadors as well as see this state-of-the-art institution. Tickets are available at Eventbrite or click the link.

May 11

Praise the Florida Sunshine with some Namaste on the Beach. You can practice your meditation with a guided session by Licensed Psychotherapist and Happiness Transformation Coach, Dani La Barrie. Bring your yoga mat as this spiritual gathering will be right on the sand. Also, be sure to wear comfortable clothing and slather on sun protection!

May 15

Get involved with the community and the city of Boca Raton, volunteering on the Beautification Committee. Information on pruning trees, landscaping and the proper type of plant species that will enhance your curb appeal. May 16

Boynton Beach Food, Wine & Brew Fest will be hosted by Benvenuto Restaurant off North Federal Highway in Boynton Beach. The event is also sponsored by the Boca Chamber and Greater Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce as well as an excellent selection of vendors. Appetizers and elixirs, foodies and foodettes, this event will please all. They will be showcasing local craft beer as well as winery specials. They have emphasized this is an adult-only party and you must be 21 to attend. Let us know your experience in the comments.

May 19

Get your running shoes on and help support the Boys & Girls Clubs for Broward County. This 5K run will be a delightful way for you to show your philanthropic side and is open to families as well as participants. Be prepared to have a ton of fun with all the festivities!

May 19

The Wick Theatre & Costume Museum of Boca Raton is performing a tribute to country singer, Patsy Cline with a musical play in the performer’s honor. Other productions that have called this stage home would be “Evita, Music Man and A Chorus Line” to name a few. This venue is a Boca Ratonian favorite. Make this one of your Boca Raton hotspots for entertainment.

May 27

Grab your blanket and head over the Mizner Park for the Memorial Day Concert. Celebrate the holiday and your support for veterans by visiting the Boca Raton Cemetery. The Indian River Pops Orchestra will be responsible for the entertainment for this special concert highlighting Forgotten Soldiers Outreach. Don’t forget to bring donations of food, toiletries and other essential supplies that will be given to less fortunate soldiers in need.

May 27

The Memorial Weekend should be busy with so much to do throughout the city including the Memorial Day 5K & 1 Mile race in Boca Raton. The proceeds to this event are designed to build awareness for Food Allergies. Many people suffer from a variety of allergies with everything from shellfish to peanuts. Bring the whole crew out to raise money for this worthy cause. Check with the YMCA of Boca Raton to learn more before the date.

June – November

Hurricane Season kicks off next month for the state of Florida. However, the month of May is when you need to start your preparations and be informed of how to be hurricane ready. For those of you who have hurricane impact windows be sure they are working correctly and without any chips or other issues. The more you’re prepared, the easier it will be for you to maneuver through one of these storms. If you’re a homeowner who is here part of the year, be sure to contact the appropriate channels to help you in the event you need additional work or monitoring through the storm season.
