Find Things to do in the Boca Raton and Surrounding Communities this January 2020

Another year is passing, and a new beginning is shining brightly all the way to the next year. Don’t forget to add events to your 2020 calendar and for some additional sparkle. Boca Raton is full of surprises where you’ll never be dull with ho hum activities. You’ll find this year to have events, festivals and something for everyone. Here’s the lineup for January for you to plan out the month ahead.

Dec 31st

The Addison’s New Year’s Eve Party is one way you can bring in 2020. The country club will host a ‘Roaring Twenties’ party where you can put on your Great Gatsby costumes and enjoy live music, gourmet food and appetizers and a champagne bottle service to help you celebrate. They will honor the famous, Addison Mizner with all the fun. Be sure to get your tickets immediately as they may be close to selling out.

Jan 3rd, 4th, 5th

Florida Atlantic University kicks off its Play Festival with the Theater Lab. They will showcase some scenes for upcoming shows for the 2020 year. Help support local talent by attending this college event with performances by the students.

Jan 5th

Friends of the Boca Raton Public Library will host a musical matinee at the library. The show title “It Takes Two” will share performances with music from Zella Lehr who will cover the sounds of such recording artists as Jerry Lee Lewis and Tom Jones. The Las Vegas performer accompanies pianist Mr. Keys whose performances includes contributions to Amadeus and more. If you’re a fan of live music, this is the one event you’ll want to see. Bring your family or friends and be sure to check weather ahead of the performance. 

Jan 9th

Musician Marc Broussard will get you clapping your hands and stomping your feet to his urban country stylings. Soulful and bluesy melodies will haunt you while you enjoy some Funky Biscuit’s hand-crafted beer and traditional pub food. This is an event where you’ll want to collect your friends and head over to rock-and-roll!

Jan 10th

They will hold a fundraiser for the Boca Raton Police Foundation at Princeton Place, Boca Raton. The cocktail party will include live demonstrations of police equipment including vehicles and K9 units. Help support the boys and girls in blue by wearing your blue attire showing your care for the people who protect our citizens.

Jan 10th

Mizner Park Amphitheater will hold its Chinese Spring Festival where you’ll have inspiration handed to you with dance, songs and food. Bright colorful costumes create the scene for raising funds for the Chinese Association in South Florida. Impressive performances from local dancers and musicians will help the stage shine and entertain you with culture and art.

Jan 11th

Boca Fest will kick off the year in art hosting a craft show at Town Center at Boca Raton. Artist, Terry Andrews will display several types of crafts such as her Zen Lights made of natural and urban materials. The award-winning artist has a permanent collection at Carter Center in Atlanta and the Carrolton Museum of Contemporary Art in Carrolton, GA. You can find beautiful artifacts to add to your beach home or luxury condo adding unique style. Stop by and share with friends.

Jan 19th

Historian Sally Ling will present her documentary “Prohibition and the South Florida Connection.” The speaker is a guest of the Boca Chamber of Commerce and will present at the Spanish River Library from 3:00 PM–4:30 PM.

Jan 24th

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will get together for their annual gala. This is an upscale event with a fashion show and luncheon helping to raise the funding for research and support of those with the MS diagnosis. Tickets are still available and there’s also an opportunity to sponsor or volunteer. Be sure to contact the organization to find out how you can help those in need. The event will be at the Boca West Country Club off Boca West Drive. 

Jan 25th and 26th

The Boca Raton Fine Art Show feature local artisans and craftsmen and women through a variety of mediums such as sculpture, jewelry and photography. They feature this event in the Top 100 Art Shows in the country. This year’s show is being held at Sanborn Square off North Federal Highway.

Jan 26th

Boca Raton Greek Festivalwill take to Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church for a celebration with food, drink and fellowship. Join in the ring to dance with the community while raising money for mission work and more. Take part of the Greek traditions and hospitality while having a wonderful night out on the town. Open to the public you’ll have a wonderful time enjoying authentic cuisines while music fills the air and friends dance in celebration.
 

Jan 28th

Attorney Barry D. Siegel, Esq will present his topic on Living Trusts. The lawyer is from the Siegel Law Group and specializes in estate planning, taxes and more. If you’re looking to retire at an early age, this is one event you’ll want to attend. Best part is its FREE!

Jan 30th

Kabbalah Centre. The instructor will show you how to make this traditional staple for Shabbat teaching you the importance of how your spiritual energies are a force for enlightenment.
